UI illustration has become one of my favorite passions. From collaborating with UX/UI designers on client projects to creating motion designs for Start Up (SCAD’s design competition run by the Future Leaders in UX club) I’ve loved bringing playful little animations to life. Whether it’s onboarding flows or advertising, each project teaches me more about user experience, interaction, and design.
For pieces like this one, I start by drawing every element on its own layer in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Procreate. Then I bring everything into After Effects to organize, pre-comp, and set anchor points so the movement feels natural. Once the rigging is in place, I focus on timing, deciding if the animation should feel smooth and simple, or have a bouncy personality (I almost always go bouncy, it takes more effort, but the charm is worth it). Most of the work comes from carefully placed rotation keyframes, with the puppet tool adding those final touches that make everything feel organic and alive.
